  Un connubio perfetto tra riff duri e chirurgici ed atmosfere da sogno, costantemente conditi dalle diavolerie elettroniche di Richard Barbieri, da un basso mai tanto distorto, da voci mai così effettate.

  Un disco perfetto da qualunque parte lo si veda ma che per la particolarità di riuscire a trasmettere un mood “dark” bisogna esserne mentalmente preparati. Il rischio sarebbe di trovarsi di fronte ad un disco impalpabile.

  I Porcupine Tree hanno scritto forse il migliore album della loro storia, integrando perfettamente il loro solito songwriting e la loro usuale magistrale ricerca sonora (la produzione è sempre a cura di Wilson) con le stesse visioni focalizzate da Opeth e Meshuggah in questi anni: creatività applicata al suono pesante. Da avere.

  Fear Of A Blank Planet è sicuramente un passo in avanti rispetto a Deadwing, nonché un capitolo discografico diverso da tutto ciò che i Porcupine Tree hanno realizzato in passato.

  Qui è tutto più calcolato, però, e le digressioni psichedeliche della prima fase della carriera della band inglese sono utilizzate in modo regolato, funzionale alla più alla canzone che non all’album nella sua globalità.
