  Are The Dark Horse è un disco dalle mille sfaccettature, da godersi tutto, dall’inizio all’epilogo.

  Otto “perle emozionali” di sano pop orchestrale velato nei contorni da forti tratti di psichedelia.

  Disco controverso, affascinante ed intenso.

  Il tempo passa, ormai ti sei addormentato sognando campi verdi e primavere, il disco terminato attende muto nello stereo, non è un capolavoro ma ti ha fatto stare bene.

  Disco svelto e conciliante (otto pezzi per quarantacinque minuti scarsi di musica), The Besnard Lakes Are The Dark Horse vive i suoi momenti migliori quando i toni si fanno più intimi e crepuscolari, quando archi e pianoforte prendono il sopravvento sulle chitarre disegnando traiettorie narco/pop di pregevole fattura.

  Un buon disco, che forse non giustifica pienamente tutto l’interesse che bloggers e addetti ai lavori hanno riversato su di esso, ma che mostra un gruppo certamente da tenere d’occhio in prospettiva futura, e che conferma la vitalità musicale della scena canadese.

  Un album che potrà senza dubbio incontrare i favori di chi apprezza Arcade Fire e My Morning Jacket, ma che non risponde appieno alle aspettative suscitate dalla band di Jace Lasek e dal gran numero di musicisti qui impegnati.

  Ricco di armonie in stile Beach Boys, di arrangiamenti orchestrali ed echi di Roy Orbison, di ritmiche alla Pink Floyd e di un falsetto simile a quello di Freddy Mercury, il secondo lavoro dei canadesi (di Montreal) The Besnard Lakes è una sensuale incursione nel suono e nella musica.
